The Youth Ministries Specialist is a member of the pastoral staff of Campus Ministries with the responsibility to assist in the pastoral care and overall ministry leadership of the youth at CFOT. This ministry requires a commitment to love young people and their leaders and to lead them in spiritual growth.

Spiritual Life

• Christian in good standing.
• Serve as a small group leader to CFOT teens and school age children.
• Assist in providing day-to-day pastoral care to the youth at CFOT.
• Help to plan and execute Children/Teen Worship services, as needed.
• Support and assist in the creation of a Spiritual Development Plan for school age children and teens in conjunction with the Campus Ministries Program Coordinator.
• Help to plan and execute spiritual activities of children and teens, including worship, retreat and youth councils.
• Must be available to work on Sundays, as required.

Program Life

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well being of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group. Alert the Manager/Coordinator of potential problems. When applicable, complete an Incident and Accident form.
• Assist in providing motivational leadership to the Youth Ministries.
• Help to plan and execute spiritual activities of teens, including teen worship, retreat, and youth councils in conjunction with the CM Program Coordinator.
• Assist the CM Program Coordinator in overseeing the coordination of Sunday Programming.
• Ensure that there is good supervision provided to teens during after-school, public school holiday, Christmas season and other extended hours.
• Maintain the daily supervision of the teen rooms, including equipment, supplies, and snacks.
• Plan special activities for students during extended hours in conjunction with Campus Ministries Program Coordinator and Assistant Youth Ministries Coordinator.
• Plan trips/activities for students on public school holidays, Christmas season, etc. in conjunction with the CM Program Coordinator and Assistant YMC.
• Maintain and stock and supplies (i.e. program, school, and snacks).
• Maintain CM bulletin boards as it relates to school age students in classrooms and in main building areas.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings.

Campus Life

• Provide a work atmosphere that will promote professional and spiritual growth for staff members.
• Meet regularly with Youth Workers/Coordinator to review goals.
• Help to plan and execute Campus Ministries activities for campus-wide family events.
• Provide transportation to Campus Ministries’ children in Salvation Army vehicles assigned to Campus Ministries.

• Greet the parents at arrival and departure times. Encourage and welcome parents to be involved in the Campus Ministries activities.
• Communicate with parents any concerns regarding teen behavior, activity announcements, and/or information needed regarding homework.
• Assist in conducting individual conferences with parents of each child when needed.
• Report any concerns about adolescents and families that may require intervention.
• Conform to meet NY State day care regulations as it pertains to in-service training.
• Be familiar with and follow all Family Care Center policies.
• Be familiar with and follow NY state day care regulations.
• Follow New York State guidelines for Mandated Reporting.
• Follow all CFOT and CM policies.
• Perform any additional duties related to the care of children and teens, as requested.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Valid driver’s license and approval to drive CFOT van.
