Youth Career Facilitator (non-exempt)

**This position covers the areas of Butts & Lamar county**

Primary Responsibility:

The primary function of a Youth Career Facilitator is to work with participants to assess needed services and programs through case management and other coordinating activities, to ensure education and employment goals are met. To provide career-counseling, assessments, support services, and other program elements to meet individualized goals. The Youth Career Facilitator reports to the Youth Services Manager. Covering the areas of Butts & Lamar county.

Duties:

  • Provide career and supportive counseling to participants including: education on job search skills, Adult Education, resume development, interviewing skills, and interpretation of career assessments.
  • Conducts participant Orientation and Intake.
  • Facilitates assessments and develops an individual service strategy or plan with each participant to define supportive services and short/long term goals.
  • Ability to utilize multiple aspects of social media to market program services.
  • Maintain participant file data in client management databases and facilitate referrals of clients to other agency services as appropriate.
  • Participates with local job networking groups, local collaborative groups, and other civic or employment related groups to assist with program visibility, recruitment, and outreach.
  • Attend internal and approved external training sessions, conferences, professional development workshops, etc. to maintain current knowledge in the field.
  • Builds relationships with business leaders, community stakeholders, and educational institutions to promote the youth program and work experience opportunities
  • Monitors participant needs and progress on an ongoing basis and updates the Virtual Operating System (VOS) to reflect the participant plans
  • Travels throughout assigned area to coordinate work experience activities and to monitor employer and youth performance
  • Reviews service plan and performs follow-up to determine quantity and quality of services provided to client and status of case.

· Performs other duties as requested by Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program preferably in vocational counseling, social work, or psychology and one year of work experience; or 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a vehicle for required travel and a valid driver’s license. Knowledge and skill in career counseling, training, and job placement. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of WIA/WIOA, Georgia WorkSource Portal

Other Requirements:

Must possess a vehicle with appropriate insurance, be willing, and be able to drive said vehicle throughout multi-county service area. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early morning, evenings, and/or overtime if needed. Some overnight travel may be required. Must be able to lift at least thirty pounds. Must pass required drug screen, background check and Motor Vehicle Report. Must conform to standards of conduct. Must present a professional appearance and business demeanor.
