JOB DESCRIPTION

Yard Jockey/Switcher

(Rotating between the shifts below)

Early: Monday - Saturday 5AM - 1:30PM

Late: Monday - Friday 2PM - 10:30PM

• Oversee daily operation of the yard
• Responsible for all trailer moves to and from docks; and drop yards
• Operate spotter truck, moving trailers between trailer yard and dock doors and logging all trailer moves to maintain accurate yard inventory
• Climb in and out of the spotter truck numerous times per day, hooking and unhooking trailers
• Follow work instructions
• Unload tires from trucks manually
• Palletize and/or restack tires
• Label materials with identifying information
• Sort and place materials
• Forklift driving, move tires/wheels from receiving areas to designated areas
• Conduct other tasks and liaison as directed by the supervisor
• Operate forklift in accordance with safety and standard working practices
• Ensure forklift is properly stored, charged, cleaned, and ready to operate
• Inform supervisor of any damages, accidents or incidents
• Responsible for keeping work area clean
• Wear the required safety personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to the safety rules and regulation

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• At least six months of verifiable experience within the last year
• Proficiency in backing trailers into dock doors
• Must have a clean driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• 1+ years Forklift experience
• Must be detail-oriented and pay close attention to accuracy
• Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift up to a maximum of 75 pounds
• Ability to read, write and understand the English language
• Willingness to work rotating shift
• Availability to work overtime including weekends
• Ability to work any shift as required
• Ability to work and keep pace in a fast-paced environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.40 per hour
