General description
Performs advanced (senior-level) informational and educational writing, editing and project management of agency publications and initiatives. Writes and edits for monthly Fiscal Notes publication, collaborating with senior-level and executive management and subject matter experts to produce high-quality, technical information to both general public and legislative stakeholders. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
In this role you will:
- Writes, edits and proofs print and web content, including agency articles, news releases, special reports, social media posts, emails, and other projects.
- Performs advanced (senior-level) informational work.
- Work involves writing and editing articles and coordinating a variety of timely, error-free informational and economic materials.
- Provides editorial assistance, suggestions and rewrites as requested. Collects, organizes, fact-checks and prepares data for agency websites and publications.
- With an emphasis on customer service, works closely with agency stakeholders to develop and execute internal- and external-facing promotional campaigns.
- Works closely with senior management and staff to manage Editorial projects.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in English, communications, journalism, public relations or related field.
- Five (5) years experience in the planning, development, preparation, creation and dissemination of information to the public through a diverse array of materials, including newsletters, magazines, daily or weekly newspapers, brochures, posters, Web content and reports. Must have written for both print and electronic publications and have knowledge of various communication media and resources.
- Two (2) years experience supervising, planning and editing the work of other writers.
- Three (3) years of personal computer (PC) experience using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Substitutions
- One (1) additional year of the full-time minimum experience as stated above may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).

Pay: $6,065.75 - $6,973.89 per month
