Wood Manufacturing, Custom Department Supervisor

Minocqua Wood Products is looking for a highly motivated, production minded individual to lead our Custom Department.

The position will include working alongside our shop employees while overseeing daily production. Our custom department tasks include: building stair treads, railings, newel posts, interior doors, exterior doors, tabletops, bar tops, mantels and many other architectural details. Prospective applicants should have a minimum of 3-5 years experience in wood manufacturing and/or finish carpentry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides employee training
Oversees daily work of employees
Assigns duties to shop workers
Performs production or other tasks involved in client work orders
Reviews work completed to ensure it is up to quality standards
Enforces all health and safety policies in the shop
Ensures that all deadlines are met
Inspects and cleans shop equipment
Fixes equipment and machinery as necessary
Operates shop machinery such as forklifts or manufacturing equipment
Ensures that shop area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous or hazardous material

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrates strong leadership skills
Possesses detailed knowledge of shop industry
Works well with a team
Possesses solid analytical and problem solving abilities
Demonstrates awareness of all health and safety protocols
Is able to remain calm and clear-headed in an emergency
Manages time efficiently
Is able to multi-task effectively
Pays attention to detail
Demonstrates strong organizational skills
Is able to read, interpret work orders
Communicates clearly and effectively
Is qualified to operate heavy machinery

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Woodshop experience required
Managerial or supervisory experience required

Work Environment
The majority of working hours will be spent in the job participating in and overseeing production
Standard 40-hour workweek applies, though overtime may be necessary

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
