Formel D is actively seeking an Wire Harness Technician! This is a local only posting.
The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for inspection, repair and diagnostic services. You will work on computer systems diagnosis, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical/electrical component replacement. You must have the ability to explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include other associates and customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform difficult repairs and work specified repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or OEM standards
Reading harness schematics
Building harnesses as per schematic
Ability to choose appropriate crimp tool, crimp terminals and complete electrical connectors as per specification
Ability to perform quality checks of harness build and use standard test equipment such as DMMs, scopes, probes, power supplies
Ability to solder some assemblies
Root cause analysis of electrical defects
Analyze defect data to understand number of occurrences and defect type.
Continuously learn new wiring harness and connector technology as it is developed.
Diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems including electrical diagnostics and repair, wiring harness installation,, etc. to specification
Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to management and customers
Determine needed repair activity and perform repair
Perform standard part replacement and capable to complete actions by following the action SMP
May be required to lead small groups of other technicians without pay adjustment
Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology
Inspect and test new vehicles and recording findings so that necessary repairs can be made
Work will be performed in a manufacturing facility and can include working on the assembly line
Other duties as assigned by management
Qualification/Requirement:
Must obtain a high school diploma or equivalent
Ideal candidate has 2-3 years experience in building automotive or commercial vehicle wire harnesses with ASE A6/T6 certification. Current driver's license; clean driving record
Pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Work assigned schedule which may include multiple shifts, weekends and holidays; work overtime when required.
Arrive to work on-time.
Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Valid US driver’s license
Preferably have experience with OEM and manufacturing environments
Computer skills required.
Team oriented, flexible and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service.
Working knowledge of shop equipment such as diagnostic equipment, AC equipment, etc.
Environmental Requirements:
May be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise
Some duties performed outside in all weather conditions
This is a physically demanding position
Must be able to lift, push, pull, move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds
Must be able to work at heights up to 20-25 feet
Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours
