Job Description
A Natural Resource Specialist III (Wildlife Biologist) fulltime (40hours/week) classified staff position is available with the Virginia Tech Conservation Management Institute to support a variety of ongoing research and management projects at Marine Corps Base- Quantico, Virginia. The position will be located at Marine Corps Bas-Quantico, Virginia near Stafford, Virginia.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in the management and performance of field sampling and natural resource survey techniques.
- Experience navigating over rough terrain using topography maps, GPS and compass and must be willing to work in adverse weather and field conditions.
- Demonstrated expertise in performing basic wildlife and natural management tasks.
- Experience with Global Positioning Systems and ESRI based GIS software a plus.
- Ability to perform basic statistical analysis of field data and report findings of research.
- Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in operating equipment commonly used in conservation and land management such as boats, chain saws, weed and brush cutters, agricultural tractors, front-end loader, bull dozers, soil tillage and planting implements, off-road vehicles, and trucks.
- B.S. in Botany, Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Sciences, Forestry, Environmental Science or related field.
