GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs specific service work in the field of wellness with the Department's training unit; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
- Designs, organizes and conducts employee wellness and education programs to motivate a healthy lifestyle.
- Confer with instructors on special activities involving wellness.
- Disseminate information to employees regarding the wellness program.
- Develop and manage peer support program for wellness.
RELATED FUNCTIONS:
- Schedule internal training for all employees.
- Coordinate external training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The coordinator should have a thorough knowledge in the principles, practices and techniques regarding wellness. He/she should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally. He/she must be able to communicate in large group settings and to individuals. He/she must have a good command of grammar and the ability to write. He/she must have good time management skills including ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and responsibilities simultaneously.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree with major coursework in social science, criminal justice, education or a related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Some experience in wellness and/or social work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed under moderate levels, regularly working with light weight materials and occasionally with heavy weights. Work performed mainly indoors, with occasional use of motor vehicle.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid State of Florida driver license
