Job Title: Welder - ** Temporary Assignment**

Job Summary:

The job of Metal Fabricator / Welder is done for the purpose/s of meeting demands and completing work orders in a timely manner; installing, repairing and fabricating materials out of metal; ensuring availability and functioning of required items; and ensuring safety and resolving immediate safety concerns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains welds on various items using a variety of processes (manual arc, tungsten inert gas, metallic inert gas, brazing, cement core drilling, sheet metal, steam-fitting, etc.) (e.g. Metal Pallets, Carts, Racking Systems, Guard Rails, electric motorized gates, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items ensuring safety.

  • Repairs metal surfaces (e.g. doors, drain covers, fences, gates, grates, furniture, tools, parts, sheetmetal, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe and efficient use of items.

  • Installs various items (e.g.railings, fences, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects safely and within established time frames.

  • Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicle, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety.

  • Coordinates with on-site team and client for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.

  • Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of completing assigned projects.

  • Assists other trades personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

  • Responds to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

  • Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.

  • Works required shift hours. Is available for weekend work and non-shift work as required.

  • Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of completing assigned projects.

  • Performs tasks as deemed necessary by the Site Manager

Education:

  • High School Diploma

Qualifications:

  • Welding Certification or a minimum of two to four years welding experience and equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

  • Two to four years welding experience

  • Valid driver’s license, Fork truck operator’s license, JLG operator’s license

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions operating and maintenance instructions, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one –on-one and small group situations of customers, clients and other employees of the organization

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb of balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell.
The employee must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. Occasionally loud noise level. May require safety equipment including, but not limited to, steel toe shoes, hearing, eye and hand protection.
