$75,000-$95,000 Per Year

Donald Smith Company is a family owned and operated business that has installed and serviced water wells since 1946. We currently have two locations with our headquarters in Headland, AL, and a satellite office outside of Tupelo, MS. We currently service all of Alabama, Mississippi, Northwest Florida, and Western Georgia. Our goal is to provide outstanding well, pump, and treatment facilities for our local water systems, industrial factories, and irrigation clients dependent on groundwater to meet their water demands.

Per-diem will be provided at $36 per day, hotel cost are covered by company, an additional $1 per hour for out-of-town incentive will be awarded, a night shift incentive of $40 per shift will be in place, and 1.5X pay will be given for all work over 40 hours.

Experience/ Skills Needed

- 2-5 years of water well drilling and rig operations ()

- Knowledge of basic mud rotary systems

- Mathematical skills needed for on-site pipe, weight, and volume calculations

- Mechanically minded and capable of general rig, pump, and motor maintenance

- Backhoe/ Excavator experience preferred but not required

- Welding experience preferred but not required

- Class A CDL preferred and will add to pay rate

Duties

- Responsible for site coordination and safety

- In charge of mobilization, set-up, breakdown, and demobilization of equipment

- Run drilling rig controls for water well construction from 6”-24” in diameter and up to 3000’ in depth

- Calculate pipe tolerances, drill string and casing footages, assembly weights, fluid volumes

- Set casing and screens, pressure grout casing, gravel pack screens, and develop wells

- Mon- Fri job, home on the weekends, out of town stay required for jobs more than 1 HR from home office (60-70% of jobs). Projects average 2-3 months at a time

- Company truck provided and tooled

- Mandatory DOT and Non-DOT drug test and physicals
