The Water Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient management of aquatic operations, activities & special event programs, game room operations, and assists in the maintenance and upkeep of the swimming pool & waterpark facility, and supervision of aquatics/attendant staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible leadership of staff members, including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating and maintaining appropriate staffing levels for the department.
  • Conduct & oversee classes, training and in service training for Aquatics staff.
  • Assists in developing Assistant Managers, Supervisors and Lifeguards for potential career advancement.
  • Constantly evaluate the existing programming, making necessary changes and improvements.
  • Fiscal and budgetary management of aquatic operations including ability to assist in creating and maintaining departmental budgets, forecasts, and financial reports as needed, reviewing and approving all purchases for the department.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programming and schedules for waterpark, activities, recreation & swimming pool operations.
  • Ensure all lifeguard certifications are current.
  • Direct the implementation of department policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers, using tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflict.
  • Monitor, manage and respond to guest comments and proactively addressing guest comments with operational & appropriate resolutions.
  • Perform supervisory tasks of a team, including resolving conflict, coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, and performance management.
  • Attend daily and/or weekly staff meetings with department heads, supervisors & managers.
  • Attend monthly resort Safety meeting.
  • Prepare reports for accidents and remain updated on emergency/safety procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory & controls of Waterpark, Game Room & Retail merchandise/supplies.
  • Coordinate with Water Technician to ensure all water quality requirements are met including, but not limited to, testing water, recording test results, and addition of chemicals. Ability to assist in performing and documenting regular water testing in accordance with all Water Resort Policies.
  • Monitor mechanical equipment and reports any problems to Engineering for repair by submitting work orders for repairs immediately to ensure effective waterpark operations.
  • Administer and ensure enforcement of all water resort rules and regulations; ensure that appropriate records are kept and that the preparation of local, state, and federal reports, including all safety checks and reports, are timely and accurate.
  • Ability to perform cash-handling functions, including point-of-sale (POS) system, registers, and run daily reporting, as needed.
  • Provide a safe and fun environment for the guests by monitoring cleanliness and housekeeping of game room, pools chairs, cabanas, pool and pool decks, and surrounding areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
  • Holiday/Special Event/Rainy Day Activities: Assist in planning, promoting and implementation activities for rainy days, holidays & special events.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • E&A International Lifeguard Training Program® certification, preferred or equivalent. (must be obtained if hired)
  • E&A ILTP® Instructor (must be obtained if hired)
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification (must be obtained if hired)
  • Successful completion of criminal background check
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or equivalent (must be obtained if hired)
  • Capable of working unusual hours, including late nights, weekends and all holidays in a fast paced atmosphere
