Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I

General Definition of Work

Performs work maintaining and operating the wastewater treatment plants, generators, lift stations, and other heavy equipment, performing custodial and grounds maintenance and cleaning, performing mandatory state and federal testing for Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and related work as apparent or assigned.

Sunday - Thursday 7am-3pm

Must live or relocate within 30 minutes of Harrisonville

Work is performed under the supervision of the WWTP Chief Operator

Essential Functions

· Operates wastewater treatment plant; monitors all equipment and makes adjustments as needed to ensure equipment is working to meet standards.

· Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery; maintains pumps and motors, grounds-keeping equipment by changing filters, plugs, or blades and grease fittings; changes out oil, belts, and hoses; greases and performs minor repairs; unclogs pumps as needed.

· Operates heavy equipment, including tanker truck, boom truck, and tractors.

· Maintains buildings and grounds; cleans, sanitizes, and performs minor repairs.

· Performs laboratory tests to stay in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations; conducts chemical and microbiological tests and sampling or raw and treated water; prepares test solutions; records test results; operates and maintains laboratory and testing equipment.

· Updates and submits electronic discharge monitoring reports (eDMRs).

· Monitors lift stations ensures that waste flow enters the plant as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a high school diploma or GED and less than one year of experience with six months of training at a wastewater facility or equivalent combination of education and experience

Class B CDL license with air brakes and tanker endorsement, or successfully obtain the CDL license with six months of hire

Special Qualifications

· Obtain a Wastewater Operators License (C) or (D) through the Missouri Department Natural Resources (MDNR) within six months of hire.

· Complete Security Awareness Training for Computers through the City of Harrisonville Information Technology Department within six months of hire.

· Obtain a valid commercial driver's license Class B with tanker and air brakes endorsements in the State of Missouri within six months of hire. The city does provide a CDL Training Agreement.

· Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for position.

· May require possession of, or ability to obtain, specific licenses and/or certifications depending on departmental assignment.

Job Type: Full-time
