Position Information

The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Warehouse Coordinator for the Property Section of the Arlington County Detention Facility (ACDF). This position plans, directs, and coordinates warehouse supplies for a 24/7 facility. This employee is primarily responsible for directing daily work functions and overseeing the work process performed by four property clerks, monitoring purchases, receiving, storage and issuance of all supplies, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure proper procedures are used and that a safe, secure, clean, and accessible environment is maintained. The Warehouse Coordinator will work with and among sworn and non-sworn employees on a daily basis.

Specific duties include:


  • Ensuring the proper operations of assigned warehouse, training new staff and providing technical expertise to assist in problem resolution; scheduling, assigning and reviewing employees’ work; and contributing to employee performance evaluations;
  • Covering Property Clerk shifts during staff shortages or vacations;
  • Overseeing monthly inmate phone maintenance;
  • Organizing and conducting inventory control and ensuring adequate supply levels and reporting and monitoring inventory expenditures and costs;
  • Receiving supplies and equipment delivered to the warehouse, delivering materials, supplies and equipment to intended users, and ensuring the proper storage of materials, including organizing and conducting inventory control, ensuring adequate supply levels and ensuring that materials are properly accounted for during the receipt, storage and disbursal;
  • Supporting internal and external agencies with various mitigation measures in support of incident response and recovery efforts;
  • Monitoring inventory using an automated inventory management system CJRMS (Criminal Justice Records Management System);
  • Following up with vendors on incorrect orders and communicating with vendors about supplies and complaints and relaying any concerns regarding equipment;
  • Investigating, documenting, and resolving complaints and recommending changes to the process and/or inventory kept on-hand; and
  • Assisting with ACA (American Correctional Association) and DOC (Department of Corrections) Audits;
The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills as well as extensive inventory management/control experience and experience coordinating the work of others.

Selection Criteria

Minimum:


  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent;
  • Experience in inventory management and control; and
  • At least one year of purchasing experience.

Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Desirable: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
  • Working in a detention center or institution such as a hospital or related setting;
  • Utilizing an automated inventory tracking system;
  • Using Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel);
  • Managing or coordinating a team of four or more members; and/or
  • Scheduling coverage to support a facility that operates on a 24 hour, 7 days per week basis.

Special Requirements

Duties of this position includes working around inmates in the Arlington County Detention Facility, in the presence of sworn law enforcement personnel. The applicant selected will be required to undergo a thorough pre-employment character/background investigation, a polygraph exam, and a drug screening test.

Additional Information

Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.

This position is not in the County's competitive service and is not covered by the merit system, however, Sheriff's Office employees receive all County benefits, including eligibility for retirement.

The pay ranges listed above are effective June 18, 2023.
