Newfi Lending is a fast growing and well-funded residential mortgage lender ready to expand our national presence. We are seeking a VP of Mortgage Sales and Operations to join a new group within the firm that is launching a first of its kind mortgage instrument to be rolled out nationally beginning in early 2023. The ideal candidate will be someone who has experience building and implementing operating protocols for new mortgage products-product launches. This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to design the operating environment they will supervise across wholesale, retail, and DTC channels. Candidate should have experience interacting with 3rd party subservicing vendors, establishing underwriting/sales fulfillment centers, pipeline management, QC, process improvement, staff development and promoting customer experience. The new product is unique to the point that the candidate must be willing to take responsibility for building 30% anew while adapting the balance on top of Newfi’ s existing platform. Must possess deep knowledge of Agency, FHA, and VA guidelines, have track record with non-agency products, and have the desire to help develop a high service atmosphere for internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for assessing loan risk and making decisions based on the quality of the data in the loan file
• Support staff underwriters, monitor staff workload and performance
• Liaison for production staff on underwriting and processing issues
• Reviews and ensures data integrity to confirm the accuracy of automated underwriting findings
• Applies all internal underwriting guidelines, investor requirements and federal regulations to the decision process to ensure loan quality
• Help to solve complex loan issues
• Review credit documents for accuracy and completeness
• Partner with the entire production team to ensure high quality loans
• Communicate with loan officers, account executives, BSR’s, brokers and processors to create a positive customer experience
• Provide feedback for pre-closing as well as post-closing quality control audits in a timely manner
• Willingness to provide alternative solutions when needed
• Adhere to all applicable internal NPI policy and procedures and protect the confidentiality of borrower information

Qualifications:

• 5+ years recent supervisory/Team Lead experience
• Exposure to operations at a national level and in multiple markets
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with investors, and production staff, both internal and external
• Proficiency with DU and LP
• Experience with conventional, jumbo and NonQM underwriting
• Leadership qualities to include mentoring, training and coaching
• Experience with LendingQB LOS is desired
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
