The primary purpose of the Volunteer Services Department is to provide quality volunteer programs and services to the residents of Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC). The Volunteer Services Director plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and monitors the implementation of the facility volunteer services program providing services to virtually all program areas and impacting all residents at LNMTC.

Longleaf Neuro Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC) is a certified Medicare and Medicaid facility nursing home that provides a continuum of care to both adults with severe and persistent mental illness that also have long-term medical conditions requiring residential, medical and nursing care, and to adults with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's or other related dementia. LNMTC facilitates high quality skilled and intermediate nursing care throughout four Nursing Unit Floors and an Alzheimer's Unit that operates 24 hours seven days a week, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following:


  • Providing creative leadership, to establish priorities, and to make independent decisions
  • Experience with the population served, and programs to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Personnel management skills to supervise volunteers
  • Communicating effectively in oral and written form; public speaking skills
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Planning, developing and implementing religious and volunteer services/programs and to evaluate them according to resident and volunteer needs
  • Customer service skills necessary to establish programmatic support, and ability to establish rapport and work effectively with a variety of program disciplines, community organizations, and the general public

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in human services programs including at least eighteen months of experience in a volunteer services program in a hospital, State-operated residential program, or community program
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
