VC3, an innovative and growing IT services solution provider, headquartered in Columbia, SC is seeking to fill a Virtual Chief Information Security Officer role. The vCISO will be responsible for helping organizations to protect their infrastructure, data, people and customers. They are a top security expert that builds the client organization’s cybersecurity program, and will work with the existing management and technical teams.

Here’s what you'll be responsible for:

• Translate Cyber Security into non-technical terms for the Executive to understand business risks associated with Cyber Security.
• Understanding the organization’s strategy and business environment
• Help with establishing the organization’s cybersecurity strategy
• Anticipating future security and compliance challenges Participate in developing, maintaining, and reviewing comprehensive information security standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Driving the building of a cybersecurity plan and program
• Assist with overseeing technical teams
• Managing and overseeing the information security incident response program, including the development of Business Continuity Program and Disaster Recovery Program
• Ensuring there are people and process in place to analyze cyber security threats in real-time, mitigating and preventing these threats
• Completing a cybersecurity risk assessment based on your organization’s assets
• Overseeing the evaluation, selection, and implementation of information security technology and ensuring that newly-acquired technology complies with information security regulations.
• Negotiating contracts with third parties; build security requirements and standards into these contracts.
• Liaise with internal and external client providers to assist with vendor selections
• Collaborating with industry peers as well as continuously analyze and review new security technologies and practices as informed by industry best practice.
• Working closely with internal stakeholders and business units to keep abreast of planned changes to technologies, working practices, and business activities that could have an impact on the company’s security or risk profile.
• Reporting Information and Cyber Security program updates to the senior leadership team to include metrics which measure the program’s efficiency and efficacy.
• Drive Company-wide training and education on security-related matters in an effort to increase awareness, mitigate risk.

Here's what we need from you:

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred
• A minimum of five years experience in risk management, information security, or programming
• An understanding of current and emerging threats and countermeasures and the organizational challenges to addressing these threats
• An understanding of Application Security threats and countermeasures
• An awareness of information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, MITRE, and NIST
• Practical knowledge of security technologies and wider business solutions including Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Identity and access management, SIEM, remote working and cloud technologies skills
• The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions
• Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
• Ability to present complex or highly technical issues in simple and easy-to-understand formats
• Ability to build strong relationships and influence decisions with internal and external stakeholders
• One or more of the following qualifications are highly desirable: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Risk & Information Security Controls (CRISC)

• Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm
• Applicant selected will be subject to department of motor vehicles, credit, and criminal background checks
