We are well-positioned to capitalize on significant opportunities in the North American and other legacy markets and are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SVP, Head of Fortitude P&C Solutions to join as a key member of the senior team to support our plans for ambitious growth in the years ahead.

Role:
Reporting to the Chief P&C Reinsurance Officer, this important member of the P&C deal origination team will have significant market-facing presence and autonomy in sourcing P&C business opportunities, including reinsurance transactions, platform expansion, and legal entity acquisitions. The individual can anticipate meaningful visibility both within the Fortitude Re organization (including Fortitude Re’s senior management, Board of Directors, and investors) and externally, in the legacy reinsurance market.

Activities and Responsibilities:
  • Developing and fostering (re)insurance and insurance industry-adjacent (actuarial, consulting, brokerage) connections appropriate to drive new business objectives
  • Effectively leveraging Fortitude Re’s strategic advantages (balance sheet, ratings, investment capabilities, service offerings) to develop bespoke new business opportunities
  • Identifying and quantifying strategic drivers of legacy P&C transactions, including macro factors
  • Working with both targeted “Tier 1” counterparties and smaller markets to facilitate capital, rating agency, and financial objectives through legacy transactions
  • Interfacing with intermediaries on transaction activities, where applicable
  • Developing investment banking and broker relationships to gain better visibility into emerging opportunities relating to P&C insurance industry acquisitions/divestitures
  • Developing and sharing thought leadership on the P&C legacy market and participating in industry business organizations and representing Fortitude Re P&C at industry events
  • Maintaining organized databases of information specific to individual transactions and to the company’s overall P&C new business initiatives
Requirements:
  • 8-10 years of experience in an insurance or reinsurance organization (preferably in, or with exposure to, P&C strategy or corporate development), as a buy or sell-side analyst with a focus on the insurance industry, or with insurance or reinsurance investment banking experience
  • Ability to identify and compellingly convey to actual and prospective deal counterparties the benefits of P&C legacy transactions
  • Recognition of client “pain points” that create opportunities and crafting outreach opportunities to capitalize effectively on those items
  • Experience with P&C legacy transactions (loss portfolio transfers, insurance business transfers, adverse development covers, legal entity acquisitions)
  • Strong working familiarity with general P&C actuarial, capital and accounting concepts
  • Confidence and demeanor appropriate for representing Fortitude Re and its interests to the broader insurance and reinsurance community
  • Eagerness to take shared ownership of Fortitude Re’s P&C profitable growth ambitions
  • Willingness to travel, as appropriate, for client visits and industry and other professional engagements
  • Industry connections preferred
