Vice President of Memory Care

The Vice President of Memory Care is responsible for charting the vision and executing the development and implementation of programs and activities for cognitively impaired Residents, driving strategy and thought leadership as the senior-most professional of the discipline. This position advocates for and advances the interests of Residents in alignment with emerging knowledge in this field. All responsibilities must be completed in accordance with Company policies and procedures, current standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee the overall development and execution of quality standards related to memory care/Traditions programs and activities through researching, authoring and implementing new curricula, enhancing and refreshing existing programs, and generally articulating and advancing the vision for memory care services within the organization.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to set priorities and goals for service delivery, recommending changes and enhancements to meet the needs of current and future Residents.
  • Assess programming, identify needs, and make recommendations to senior leadership around the continuous improvement of services, programs and activities for Residents.
  • Develop programs and activities that provide meaningful Resident engagement, with a goal of improving care outcomes and ensuring activities and programming honor and meet the social, physical, cultural, religious, diversity, and other needs of the Residents.
  • Serve as an active collaborator in complex, acute or other emergent situations requiring memory care expertise and support; be available for after-hours issues that may arise and require intervention and/or problem solving.
  • Participate independently and cross-functionally, as needed, in the development and revision of policies and procedures for the department and establish methods to ensure compliance with published policies across the organization.
  • Oversee the Home Office Memory Care professionals, including Regional support and Director positions, and ensure proper allocation of these resources across the portfolio of Oak and Ivy communities with Operations partners.
  • Evaluate, onboard, train, coach and support all levels of Memory Care professionals in the organization, working collaboratively within the reporting structure to ensure Memory Care standards are upheld.
  • Serve as a thought leader within the industry, representing Oakmont Management Group at conferences, seminars and other events, presenting individually and/or on panels as requested.

General Duties:

  • Communicate proactively and effectively with members of the home office, regional team, and communities through written and verbal communication.
  • Respond to Resident and family issues in a professional and caring manner, serving as the senior leader in the department to drive resolutions to complex issues.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all Residents and team members, following established safety procedures:
    • Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP)
    • Universal Precautions and Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Evacuation and Disaster Plans
    • Resident Elopement procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in gerontology, psychology or related field; Master’s Degree highly desired.
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role overseeing the development of programming for the cognitively impaired.
  • Able to work with seniors and patiently interact with cognitively impaired individuals.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment, personal computer and be proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines while still maintaining accuracy.
  • Able to adapt and respond to change, make decisions, and prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Able to travel to communities as required, with overnight stays as necessary to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background check and Health Screening tests, including COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test within 72 hours of start date.
  • Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or valid exemption due to Qualifying Medical Reasons or Religious Beliefs subject to legal requirements.
