Summary:
The Vice President of Human Resources (VP) will create and drive the Human Resources people strategy
of operations for the Agency and specifically ensure processes are in place to meet strategic goals and
the mission of the organization. The VP will partner with the President & CEO to transform the culture
and lead strategic planning in order to anticipate changes and initiatives that promote people practices
that create and sustain a competitive advantage for CMHA. The VP will lead the division’s functional
areas of talent acquisition, employment law, benefits, human resource information systems (HRIS),
employee training and development, talent management, performance management, and employee
and labor relations. The VP will be a “forward thinker” and will partner with the leaders to drive superior
outcomes and results for CMHA.



Essential Responsibilities and Target Outcomes:

Critical Work Relationships
CMHA Senior Management Team; CMHA Department leaders, managers and supervisors; CMHA
Employees; Board of Directors; vendors and suppliers: funding agencies: insurance companies/brokers,
municipal, federal and state regulators: external consultants; community hiring resources (e.g., colleges,
professional organizations and networks, recruitment firms, etc.); job-seekers, interviewees, candidates
for hire, external professional networks, and stakeholders to scan for innovations and opportunities to
improve.



Minimum
Requirements: 

Established HR executive with 10+ years of senior HR generalist
experience partnering with, guiding and influencing senior level
leaders regarding their people practices. 

Solid hands-on experience and expertise in Workforce Planning and
Staffing, Employee Relations, HRIS Implementation,
Leadership/Management and Individual Contributor Development

Certifications: SPHR/PHR or commitment to complete SPHR/PHR
certification within one year of employment. 

Experience in Non-Profit Human Services organizations.
Preferred
Requirements

Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resource
Management/Labor Relations and/or MBA 
Minimum of ten years of HR professional experience in the health
care and/ or human services industry (non-profit industry a plus) 
Experience with financial impact of human resources function on
overall agency functions. 
Experience in building effective HR teams; assessing needs as well as
developing and implementing effective HR systems and operations
that support the desired strategy and culture of the organization. 
Experience in keeping up to date with external trends and best

practices in HR to continuously drive improvements in programs and
policies. 

Certifications: SPHR or PHR
Competencies:

Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to accuracy and timeliness,
ability to maintain Agency and legal employment standards, well-
organized, collaborative, responsive, customer orientation (internal
and external). 

Professional approach at all times while communicating with internal
and external licensure and business contacts. 
