Veterinary Assistant

We are a holistic veterinary practice in southern Saratoga County, New York looking for a Veterinary Assistant. We are closed weekends and there are no late evening hours, leaving staff plenty of free time to enjoy leisure activities and spend time with friends and family.

Part-time Veterinary Assistant needed for high paced holistic veterinary practice in Clifton Park, New York.

We offer a totally different veterinary experience:

On a typical day, we see 10 to 20 patients. Our appointments are 45 to 60 minutes (minimum), allowing us plenty of time to get to know our clients and completely address all of their pets’ issues. Our focus is on wellness and balance and we strive to make our patients’ and our clients’ experiences as stress-free and comfortable as possible through the use of soothing music, calming aromatics, low lighting and soft bedding during their visits. We also use minimal restraint techniques. To that end, we do not offer imaging, dental, surgical or otherwise invasive/painful procedures, or bathing/grooming services.

Duties include helping doctor in rooms with animals receiving acupuncture, spinal adjustments and laser treatments. Filling bird feeders, shoveling, sweeping and cleaning when needed are also part of the job. Gentle restraint techniques are used for animal handling to keep patients stress free.

The ideal candidate/employee is one who has a strong interest in holistic medicine; has a warm, friendly, outgoing, caring and empathetic nature; is a strong team player. They must also have great people skills.

Practice incorporates the usage of acupuncture, spinal manipulation, herbal medicine, and nutritional supplements.

-Experience is preferred.

-A current student obtaining licensure to be a Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred.

-Pay rate is TBD and to commensurate with experience.

-Hours vary each week, so needs to be flexible. A typical work week would be Tuesday Wednesday 9-1 Thursday afternoon 1-7 and Friday’s 9-12. Afternoon hours are also available if interested in reception duties.
