Plains Veterinary Hospital is looking for a full time Veterinary/Kennel assistant around the Zachary area. If you are in the area and interested, please come by to meet us and fill out an application. In person applicants will be considered first.

Applicant must be compassionate, positive, and have a team work mentality. They must also have an interest in learning new things, be hard working, self-motivated, and able to keep up with a fast-paced environment and have a love for animals. Experience is a plus, but not required. Must have references.

Pay listed in add is starting pay with no experience. Experience may increase starting pay.

Hours:

Full Time;

Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m to 5 p.m

Saturday 8a.m to 12p.m with rotating kennel weekends.

Applicant is expected to arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. and stay until closing and sometimes later due to emergencies. Employees will rotate working holidays and weekends. Must have reliable means of transportation.

Duties include assisting the veterinarian in exam rooms and tending to the daily needs of clients and patients. This includes following a feeding and medication schedule as well as walking and assessing health and demeaner of boarding animals in a proficient manner. Must be able to lift and properly restrain animals of all sizes and help with daily cleaning and organizing. Employees will be properly trained to assist the veterinarian with advanced procedures after you show proficiency in the duties listed above.
