The Coach is responsible for helping each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem. The Varsity Head Coach reports to the Athletic Director.* Applicant must be well versed in specific sport.1. Follow and uphold the policies and mission statement of Old Colony Athletic Department.2. Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team development.3.Ensure that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followed.4. Consult with the Athletic Director regarding any off-season training programs.5. Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.6. Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards opposing team, fans, parents, officials, spectators and community.7.
Encourage academic performance and achievement of student-athletics, not just to insure academic eligibility, but to enhance their chances of future education and employment. 8. Insure the physical welfare and safety of student-athletes and demonstrate safe teaching techniques. 9.
Develop and teach proper skills, techniques and progression appropriate to the sport and competition level.10. Stress the positive values of teaching and learning and refrain from ridicule and excessive criticism.
