Unreal Game Developer
A. Harold and Associates, LLC is seeking qualified candidates for a remote
Unreal Game Developer position, using Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) on a team developing immersive Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI). The Unreal Game Developer is a core member of the courseware development team, working directly with Instructional System Designers (ISD), Subject Matter Experts (SME), and Software Engineers (SWE) to assist in the design and development of instructionally sound, immersive training solutions. Our ideal candidate is experienced with UE4 and the blueprints system and can utilize their skillsets to integrate media assets as well as implement features (i.e., systems, interactions, and behaviors). This position is open to remote work within the United States.

Specific Duties/Job Requirements:
- Works in a highly collaborative environment, focusing on Agile development and cross-discipline communication
- Creates and maintains design and technical documentation for use throughout the entire production cycle
- Develops game content using UE4 blueprints
- Analyzes, designs, develops, documents, implements, maintains, adapts, and modifies assets and game engine scripts for a 3D immersive, interactive training simulation application
- Works with artists, SWEs, and other content developers to ensure proper implementation according to system specifications
- Creates and revises levels to meet design and functionality specifications and ensure a high level of optimization while delivering the highest level of fidelity
- Coordinates with technical and instructional team members to resolve quality assurance issues
- Creates clean and reusable code libraries
- Identifies and fixes code errors and bottlenecks
- Tests functionality of all products
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience/Education/Clearance:
- B.S. or B.A. in Game Design or related experience
- 5+ years of experience as a software developer
- Strong artistic and/or technical skills
- Exceptional knowledge of Unreal (developing with blueprints)
- Experience developing games or training in Unreal
- Expertise in Unreal optimization for lower-powered devices (e.g., desktops, laptops, and older phones)
- Experience with Agile and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Strong, demonstrable collaboration skills, working side-by-side among disciplines with varying levels of technical understanding
- Ability to use source control to collaborate with team members
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated, and team-oriented
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Experience/Education:
Any of the following experience is a plus:
- Full-cycle game design
- Application architecture and design patterns
- 3D media pipeline for game development
- Development of extended reality products
- Development for mobile applications
- Learning Management Systems (LMS) reporting frameworks, such as Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and Experience API (xAPI)
