The community you’ll be caring for: Adventhealth Redmond

The role you’ll contribute:

Performs all types of ultrasound procedures on in-patients and outpatients. Maintains competency in ultrasound procedures performed on in-patients, outpatients, as well as emergency and operating room patients. Operates all ultrasound diagnostic equipment. Performs routine diagnostic and portable exams when needed. Transports patients, processes film, and prepares radiographic rooms with supplies and medications as needed. Reviews orders and reviews films for correct identification before submitting for a radiologists’ interpretation. Assists with clerical duties as needed. Participates in radiology QI or Quality Improvement program

1)Performs as a team member in assisting with safe and effective patient care.

a. Ensures patient rooms are neat and clean.

b. Responds to nurse/patient intercom system in a timely manner.

c. Maintains a safe patient care environment.

d. Prepares and delivers specimens to lab according to policy and procedure.


2) Acts as a communication liaison for the patient, family and interdisciplinary healthcare team.

a. Performs clerical Unit Clerk duties

1. Frequently reviews and flags tracking board for completion of labs and test.


2. Notifies on-call physicians and/or specialist as requested by emergency physician.

a. Assists in the facilitation and the transferring of patients to other healthcare facilities under the direction of the licensed nurse.

b. Notifies registration of admissions.


3. Responsible for organizing the inventory needed for patient records.

a. Replenishes necessary forms for downtime i.e. Nurses Notes, Progress notes, physician order forms, Triage record, charge sheets, and point sheet.

b. Assures that forms and office supplies are ordered on a weekly basis.


4) Understands the Computerized Physician Order Entry process and proficiently uses the electronic medical record for retrieval of patient information.

a. Clarifies all unclear orders with the license nurse and/or physician and monitors the tracking board.

b. Efficiently uses computer downtime procedures.

c. Provides copies of appropriate parts of the medical record necessary for transfer, admission, or discharge.


5) Assists in controlling cost to the patient and the department.

a. Utilizes the principles of cost containment by conserving equipment, supplies, and personal time to ensure charges are properly recorded.


6) Accepts reassignment in a professional and cooperative manner.


7) Communicates patient care problems to appropriate personnel.

a. Communicates effectively to appropriate individuals to meet the needs of patients, family and the environment.

b. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Demonstrates awareness of patient's rights and functions as a patient advocate.

c. Functions in a professional and calm manner during emergent/crisis situations.

d. Reports malfunctioning of equipment and processes work orders per policy.


8) Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor such as core measure console utilization, PI data abstraction, customer service, culture follow up, workers comp follow up, etc

Qualifications - External

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Medical Office Assist training
  • At least 1 year of experience
