Position Summary:

Unit clerk performs administrative and clerical duties in the emergency department.

Essential Duties:

• Answers, screens and routes incoming internal and external calls to appropriate destinations in a timely and courteous manner.
• Calls codes, pages and overhead announcements as requested
• Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
• Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.
• Assists RNs and physicians with patient care activities as needed, including entering requests under the direction of licensed nurse or physician
• Multi-task while maintaining a professional etiquette.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Customer service experience required.
• Requires critical think skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
