POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is integral to the success of the trauma program. Direct responsibility for collaborative identification of patients who meet the inclusion criteria into the database as well as ensuring correct identification of exclusion criteria. Accurate and timely abstraction of data is required and a formal program for data reliability and validation is required to ensure a high quality database able to be used for program planning, improving patient care with evidence based data, ensuring high quality patient care, and allowing benchmarking to evaluate outcomes.
Work Schedule: Day Shift 8:00am-4:30pm
Work Location : St. Petersburg, FL
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a High School diploma, GED, Certificate of Completion or equivalent achievement.
Education in advanced medical terminology and human anatomy and/or physiology and disease process preferred.
Knowledge of and experience with International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Edition (ICD-10) coding preferred.
2 years in a medical environment with hands-on experience with direct patient care.
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).
