Job Title: Transportation Operations Manager
Department: Transportation
Essential Job Functions:
  • Directing activities related to planning, dispatching, routing, and tracking of transportation vehicles and equipment
  • Planning, organizing, and managing assigned team of drivers and aides to ensure work is completed and consistent with the company’s standards
  • Directing investigations to verify and resolve all complaints
  • Collaborating with staff members to formulate and implement transportation-related procedures and customer service objectives
  • Complying with transportation-related policies, as well as safety rules, and government regulations.
  • Promoting safe work activities by conducting safety audits and attending company safety meetings.
  • Investigating accidents
  • Communicating with Director about the status of staff, passengers, and routes
  • Following policies for handling transportation issues and delays
  • Developing transportation routes
  • Coordinating maintenance and repairs for transportation vehicles
  • Creating a timeline for each part of the transportation cycle
  • Analyzing information about route times and expenses to minimize future costs
  • Acts as leader for designated group of full and part time drivers in the transportation department
  • Back up drivers on team for approved leave time, as well as sickness, accident, or emergencies
  • Responsible for random, routine, and necessary maintenance on an assigned vehicle as part of the preventative maintenance
  • Ensuring that the Director of Transportation is aware of routine situations or conditions, which may affect the health/safety of passengers and staff, utilizing the transportation services.
  • Collect maintenance and mileage sheets and report any problems immediately to the maintenance coordinator
  • Keep in direct contact with case managers at assigned centers
  • Transportation Managers are involved in analytical efforts and the deployment of new technology to improve service and financial performance.
  • Transportation managers should also be able to use different software tools that help them and analyze trends in performance and cost.
  • Need to know logistics optimization software, transportation vehicle tracking and management programs for performance and cost.
  • Maintain positive working relationships and act as an advocate for all assigned individual(s).
  • Complete all state and agency required documentation in accordance with stated guidelines and deadlines.
  • Complete and maintain required trainings in accordance with DDA/State/Company regulations. This includes, and is not limited to, CPR/First-Aid, the Mandt System, certified medication technician course and regular recertification's.
  • Attend and actively participate in all scheduled meetings.
  • Staff will be required to utilize agency electronic systems for communication, time and attendance, progress notes, incident report filing, etc.
  • All other duties that may be requested by Director of Transportation
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
Training and Certifications:
  • OSHA Safety Certification
  • Transportation Safety
  • ADA certification
Physical Requirements:
Applicant must be able to walk, stand, and sit for up to 8 hours. Person must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more based on assigned supported person (using health and safety lifting / turning techniques or assistive devices).
Applicant must be able to successfully demonstrate all Mandt Systems training physical interventions and techniques, to include assisting supported person to standing, providing assistance with ambulation, physical releases, and physical restraints.
