Peoplelink Staffing has partnered with a leading manufacturer in Billerica, MA to hire an experienced Tool and Die Engineer on a direct hire basis. The manufacturer provides parts to customers that enable them to bring their most life-enriching new products to the world.
Job Summary:
The Tool and Die Engineer leads all tooling and process engineering activities for new jobs and support part production to meet customer specifications.
Job Functions:
· Responsible for engineering of casting dies for all assigned high pressure die cast components.
· Create tooling documentation and support production with training and process documentation.
· Develop required work instructions for all die- cast related activities.
· Manage tooling suppliers and vendors using best practices during die build programs and modifications keeping within time and budget.
· Proficient in die design with optimized runner and gate, thermally balances inserts and highest possible vacuum efficiency.
· Responsible for supporting process development of all new die for casting operation and monitor throughout production.
· Able to read and understand flow simulations.
· Perform dimensional analysis; implement corrective actions to improve dimensional capability. Good understanding of casting tolerances and GD&T.
· Provide engineering support in maintenance and repair of die cast tools.
· Design fixturing for part inspection and processing.
· Collaborate with process engineers, supervisor, and engineers to troubleshoot all production issues related to tooling.
· Maintain die design and documentation database.
· Use measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, etc. to obtain information from existing dies and tooling for repair, review, reverse engineering, etc.
· Review and implement ECN activities.
· Establish close and positive working relationship with other departments.
· Reviews design with customer and obtains all necessary design approvals from customer.
· Provides technical support for Customers, Sales, Programming, Quality Control, Assembly, Machining, Shop Floor and Vendors.
· Some travel to customer facilities may be required.
Required Experience:
- BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Materials Engineering (Military experience considered)
- Proficiency in 3D modeling with Solidworks or equivalent software.
- Experience in gating, thermal, and mold design.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Design and Tolerancing)
- Project Management skills
Work Schedule:
8 am - 5 pm, M - F
