Job description

Charlotte Latin School is hiring a part-time Nest Afternoon Floater beginning in early November 2022. The Nest is open from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Hours for this position are flexible. The start time could be anytime between 12:00-2:00 p.m. The ending time can be between 5:00-5:45 p.m. The floater will be based in the four year old classroom, but also help in other rooms, especially with the infants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*

• Meet the individual needs of the children

• Interact with children to support learning through play

• Provide compassionate care in the areas of feeding, diapering, toilet training, etc.

• Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff

• Participate in staff and training meetings

• Complete annual required training hours as prescribed by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education

• Comply with school policies and procedures

• Perform other duties as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• None

Education and Experience

• Completion of NC Early Childhood Credential (EDU 119) preferred

• One year of teaching experience preferred

Ongoing Requirements

• State and Federal Background checks are required at time of hire and every five years.

• Annual Health Questionnaire (required by NC DCDEE)

• Health and safety training upon hire

• Education documentation submitted to the NC Division of Child Development

Working Conditions and Environment

• Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds
• Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity
• Frequently talk and hear
• Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders
• Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold
• Long or odd hours, as needed
