Job description

Duties:

  • Work with tenants to timely resolve calls & complaints surrounding: (1) work order issues; (2) building issues; and (3) social service needs.
  • Create and/or supervise tenant service programs utilizing tenant input. Regularly communicate tenant feedback to improve processes and outcomes and gauge tenant satisfaction.
  • Working with the Property Manager to: (1) assist tenants with finding subsidy sources; (2) assist tenants with subsidy paperwork; (3) negotiate payment schedules.
  • Drive online engagement by tenants with Tenant Portal/ other electronic interfaces (e-payments, etc.)
  • Facilitate open and accessible communications channels for tenants.
  • Improve tenant services by assisting other team members to engage with challenging tenants to gain access to tenant apartments, secure information for TICs, facilitate appointments and so forth.
  • Obtain, compile, and share tenant feedback about building conditions and quality of service.
  • Lead community engagement efforts to promote the interests and satisfaction of tenants by collaborating closely with residents, key community leaders, nonprofits, city agencies, and elected officials.
  • Regularly engage and develop relationships with elected officials and tenant leaders.
  • Stay informed about vital community needs, issues, as well as the municipal actions that may be of benefit to the tenants. Share such information with to internal staff and tenant leaders
  • Plan and execute facility events, including regular meetings with residents via Zoom (virtual) & in-person meetings and other social and team-building events
  • Respond to community issues in a timely manner by working in conjunction with the Property Manager, social service organizations, community leaders and key organizational members
  • Create required weekly and monthly reports as requested by internal and external stakeholders
  • Must have flexibility to work late during the week and on weekends, to attend meetings and so forth.

Experience:

  • Prior tenant relations experience
  • Harlem-based experience a plus
  • Dispute resolution
  • Relationship building
  • Communication
  • Relationship building
  • Able to develop, evaluate, and recommend improvement to programs, projects, and delivery procedures.
  • Able to build effective working relationships with City officials, tenant leaders and tenants.
  • Experience with housing subsidy rules and procedures (Section 8/one-shot deals and so forth)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • New York, NY 10039: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • creating and managing tenant service programs: 3 years (Preferred)
  • fair housing regulations: 1 year (Preferred)
