We're looking for an experienced technical writer to work with our Tools, Interactive Engineering, Multimedia, SDK, Product Management, and Marketing teams to create best-in-class technical documentation for designers and developers so they can build using TikTok creation tools.

You'll be able to grasp complex concepts and translate them into concise, easy-to-understand tutorials, guides, release notes, and other documentation and learning resources. As an experienced technical writer, your portfolio includes writing samples with examples of how you conveyed complex technical information to both experienced and new users.

Responsibilities

• Plan, write, and manage technical and process documentation and learning resources
• Proofread and edit content written by others to ensure completeness, accuracy, and clarity
• Define general best practices and style guidelines for consistency
• Define new documentation processes and iterate on current workflows for efficiency
• Respond to requests for updated content for top issues or new launches
• Update content on the website for new releases and iterations
• Attend demos and meetings to stay informed on functionality enhancements and modifications
• Gather feedback from the designer and developer community to iterate on content
• Deliver results in a dynamic work environment with limited supervision

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience authoring technical documentation required
• BS/BA in Technical Communication, English, Instructional Design, a related field, or equivalent experience
• Self-starter who can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and still pay attention to the details
• Technical writing portfolio including, but not limited to: user guides and tutorials, release notes, software or hardware documentation, style guidelines

Preferred qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/Markdown language
• Experience working on a global product with international partners in different time zones
• Experience in a design or software development environment
• Knowledge of mobile platforms (such as Android, iOS) and familiarity with desktop tools or game engines (such as Adobe, Unity)
• Strong interest in working with new technology and software tools
