Technical Training Specialist- Q3 Contracting- Utilities
Job description
Q3 Contracting, a division of Primoris Services Corporation, is a publicly owned and operated construction contracting company that provides both specific and turnkey services for its customers in the gas, oil, electric and telecommunications industry. We are headquartered in Minnesota, with branch offices in Colorado, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Q3 Contracting, has a Technical Trainer position open in our Training Department. This position will be located in our Commerce City, Colorado office.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate New Employee Orientation training where standard policies and procedures are delivered so employee know how to safely operate on Q3 Contracting Jobsites
- Train and mentor employees on Q3 Contracting’s excavation best practices and safe excavation techniques
- Assist in testing and evaluating Q3C employees on the OQ covered tasks associated with their position in accordance with Q3C policy and applicable Federal and State DOT and Pipeline regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with operations leaders to ensure the appropriate training is covered for field employees
- Teach employees safe driving habits and the risks associated with distracted driving
- Assist with development and management of outdoor training yard which will replicate common work activities associated with distribution gas installation
- Utilize training documents to instruct employees on the proper use of specialized equipment and specific procedures as they relate to the underground industry.
- Other duties and special projects, as assigned
A successful candidate with meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years Natural Gas Distribution experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in a technical training role Preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in Pipe Fusion Procedures
- Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory, or lead role strongly desired
- Ability to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of “OQ Rule,” 49 CFR Part 192
- Employees in this position will demonstrate knowledge of the OQ program.
- Must possess the required knowledge to ascertain an individual's ability to perform covered tasks and to substantiate an individual's ability to recognize and react appropriately to abnormal operating conditions that might occur while performing these activities.
- Proven communication and presentation skills, oral and written, with ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities at all levels internally and outside the organization
- Ability to problem solve
- Must possess strong leadership skills
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office
- Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex training and employee issues/problems is required
- Must have the ability to deal with frequent changes, delays, and unexpected events
- Ability to organize and prioritize daily work assignments and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to direct and influence a team, and be a positive role model
- Bilingual (Spanish) desired, but not required.

Compensation: $75,000- $80,000 /annually (pay is decided based on experience)
