Job description
The Technical Marketing and Sales Specialist is a specialized position accountable for supporting commercial activities through product marketing, technical support for product selection and sales activities in achieving prepared plans to maintain and expand business in identified areas. This role will gain first-hand experience across a broad range of functions within the Industrial Sales and Marketing teams. The Technical Marketing and Sales Specialist spends a considerable amount of time learning about HarbisonWalker International through a mix of formal training sessions and hands-on learning while actively contributing to team goals.
This program is built around individual phases that train the essential knowledge and skills that will prepare the employee for future roles within HarbisonWalker International. The role is fully remote, with 50% travel within the US.
Job Duties
- Observing the sales process by visiting customers’ accounts with sales representatives and attending sales meetings to build segment knowledge and begin developing customer relationships; attending commercial meetings and other key commercial activities
- Learning product knowledge and application through training courses and on-the-job training
- Supporting segment plan initiatives by tracking sales performance, competitive activity and market potential for assigned application area(s); preparing reports and participating in meetings regarding commercial, sales and marketing decisions; participating in refractory and industry training events, and seminars
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to garner greater understanding of critical value steams and interactions of functional groups; participating in continuous improvement projects
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field
- 0-2 years of related experience.
- Requires computer operation skills including, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel expertise (pivot tables, vLookups, etc.) with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Requires written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including presentation planning and delivery skills; ability to communicate across audiences of multiple experience and knowledge levels
- Requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Requires analytical, strategic thinking and business problem solving skills
- Requires project management skills and the ability to coordinate multi-department projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain professional composure in a dynamic work environment that often requires management/completion of multiple tasks
- The Technical Marketing and Sales Specialist requires technical aptitude with the expectation to learn HarbisonWalker Internationals products and internal systems. Previous experience in sales, marketing or research in ceramic, materials, chemicals or related fields of study helpful.
