Position SummaryThe Technical Assistant assists the department with patient transport, stocking, laundry and assisting the technologists as needed. Individuals functioning as Technical Assistants should be capable of a level of self-direction and supervision with what is commensurate with their training.

Minimum Qualifications

EducationHS Diploma or equivalent.

Credentials
- BLS certification preferred

Oxygen certification (Medication Aide Training Hospital based) required within 6 months of hiring. Update to be completed every 2 years.

Physical Demands
-
Must be able to lift 50lbs from waist height and assist in transferring patients to chair/stretcher frequently.

Must be able to push/pull 10-4 lbs at waist height on frequent basis.

Must be able to stand 3-5 hours.

Must be able to kneel and squat on constant basis.
-
Must be able to perform extended reach above shoulder height on a constant basis.

Must be able to use computer and perform keyboarding on frequent basis.

Must be able to use phone, fax, and copier on frequent basis.

Visual acuity and manual dexterity required.

Essential Functions

Follows biologic hazards, infection control precautions and all standard precautions and policy and procedure.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to work with patients, anesthesia care providers and other members of the health care team.

Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills, patient & customer centered, is detail-oriented and accurate.

Able to multi-task, manage time well and work efficiently under pressure, adapts to change in a positive manner.

Safely and efficiently transports patients for examinations.

Demonstrates proper use of medical equipment used in transporting patients. This includes but is not limited to patient beds, carts, wheelchairs, smooth movers and oxygen tanks.

Keeps all medical equipment used in the transporting of patients clean and sanitary. Enters a ticket in the online reporting system for any equipment that is in need of repair.

Assists the technologists as needed.
