Overview/Risks:
Act as the lead Sterilization/Circulation Technician. Assists in assigning personnel and arranging the work schedule to best utilize the resources of the shift in meeting their goals. Responsible for maintaining the daily production requirements of the sterilization department and act as the conduit between Sterilization, Processing; Base//Synthes/Packaging/DBX/Dermis/Trinity (Jessup/Edison) and production and outlining departments.Maintain and support all supplies/materials to support production activities. Coordinate and support the inventory management functions of sterile and non-sterile garments and scrubs.
Responsibilities:
  • With the guidance of the Supervisor, delegates daily shift activities to Sterilization and Circulation Technicians.
  • Provide on-the-job-training for the Sterilization Department.
  • Responsible for communication of key shift information to following shift team leader during shift turnover meetings.
  • Act as backup to supervisor.
  • Documentation of daily production activities associated with sterilization functions.
  • Assist on Observation and Review for staff on a quarterly basis to monitor compliance.
  • Provide evaluation feedback and input on technicians to the supervisor for inclusion in appraisals.
  • Maintain order of the Locker Room sterile/non-sterile supplies/garments.
  • Responsible for the handling, performance of visual and functional inspection of all tooling, decontamination, sterilization, and documentation for the medical device kits for field surgeries (ACT).
  • Possible exposure to noncompliant organisms with handling of medical device kits.
  • Maintain all forms utilized by the Sterilization Department.
  • Perform all Sterilization and circulation technician functions as needed.
  • Required to work weekends and rotating shifts.
  • Assist on special projects and performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of Tissue banking, Central Sterile Supply, Central Sterile Processing or Surgical Technician
  • 2 years of Production experience in a sterile environment in the pharmaceutical or medical fields.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of CGMP's, QSR's and SUP's
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of sterilization OPs and sterile technique
