The Tax Specialist ensures sales and use taxes relating to sales orders are invoiced and reported in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with domestic and foreign tax regulations. Manages reporting of sales and use tax, business and occupation tax, property tax, and associated reconciliation. Supports financial reporting by confirming all tax liabilities and payments are properly reflected on the general ledger and assists with determining adjustments for month-end close.
A DAY IN YOUR NEW CAREER:

  • Manages tax hold and release process, ensuring timely and accurate tax reporting on invoices to customers.
  • Oversees critical tax filing and reconciliation processes with third party tax vendor, Avalara.
  • Sets up new accounts as it relates to tax exemption.
  • Works with state specific Department of Revenue to clarify tax exemption compliance and update internal records.
  • Owns customer experience in the event tax was incorrectly charged on customer invoices.
  • Assists Financial Accounting team in settling month end accruals for all tax filing payments and liabilities.
  • Gathers data for annual returns and property tax compliance; prepares workbooks and processing tax payments.
  • Assists with tax audits.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement efforts for all accounting processes to drive efficiencies.
  • Performs other related duties as required or requested


DESIRED BACKGROUND AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from fully accredited four-year institution is required, concentration in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance preferred; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years accounting or sales tax experience.
  • Knowledge and experience working with MS Office Suite, with strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey ideas and suggestions via multiple modes of communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking.
  • Demonstrates ability to resolve customer issues quickly and effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting.


PAY & BENEFITS:
  • The salary range for this position is $43,200- $64,700. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
