OCT Consulting, LLC is an SBA-certified, 8(a) small business management and technology consulting firm that provides support to Federal Government clients. We provide consulting services in the areas of Strategy, Process Improvement, Change Management, Program and Project Management, Acquisition/Procurement, and Information Technology.
Responsibilities and Duties
OCT Consulting currently has an opening for an experienced Systems Administrator II to support a federal government client. The responsibilities for the Systems Administrator include:
- Under general supervision, responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements.
- Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
- Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
- Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
- Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
- Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
- Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
- Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
- Manages and develops Virtual Machines and networking hosted in Microsoft Azure
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
- This position requires U.S. citizenship
- At least two years of team or project leadership experience
- Must have five (5) or more years of hands-on experience in the following areas:
o Microsoft Active Directory 2016 in an enterprise environment
o Experience with Microsoft Azure and other cloud experience (Desired)
o Securing Microsoft system platforms to include Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and/or Server 2019, and Windows 10
o DNS
- Strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to operate independently, as required; solutions-focused
- GPO's - Proven experience in the development, implementation, and troubleshooting of Group Policy Objects
- WSUS - Windows Server Update Services
- SCOM - System Center Operations Manager
- SSCM - System Center Configuration Manager
- PowerShell scripting
- Enterprise Anti-virus technologies
- Vulnerability and Remediation experience
- Information Systems Security experience
- Network security experience
- Virtual servers and/or virtual computing technologies
- FEP- Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection (Windows Defender)
- PKI and/or CAC technologies and integration
- MDT - Microsoft Deployment Toolkit
- Familiarity with cloud standards and Virtual Desktop solutions
- Familiarity with NIST standards and accreditation helpful
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is desired, but may be replaced by additional experience
- One or more of the following certifications preferred:
- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+ certifications are highly desirable
- Microsoft certifications and CISSP certifications are also beneficial
