What you will be doing
Albertsons Companies has set an ambitious sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) agenda through its Recipe for Change and is building a world-class team to drive this strategic capability. The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for gathering auditable ESG measurements for reporting purposes and drafting internal/external communications around these efforts. Additionally, this position supports ESG value creation through cross-functional engagement with other stakeholders and helps make the business case for sustainability initiatives.

The position will be based in Boise, Idaho, or one of our regional offices (Seattle, Portland, Pleasanton, Denver, Dallas, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Fullerton/LA, and Phoenix).
Main responsibilities
- Gather, analyze and communicate sustainability data from various departments and databases for ad-hoc data requests and annual reporting purposes.
- Assist with the validation and QA/QC of both quantitative and qualitative data that will be reported to internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare trend analysis and benchmark research on key topics.
- Communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders and partners to help make the business case on potential sustainability projects.
- Draft communications for external enquiries, investor relations requests, and annual/ad hoc ESG reporting as needed (i.e., ESG report, CDP questions, website updates, policy changes, etc.).
- Collaborate with all ESG team members, internal stakeholders and external vendors to analyze industry trends and market dynamics, developing metrics to measure their various impacts.

- Experience in internal and external reporting, metrics tracking, financial analysis, and communications
- Knowledge of current sustainability industry initiatives, trends, and regulations
- Knowledge of reporting frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, DJSI, SDG’s, CDP and familiarity with related reporting solutions
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong Microsoft Apps skills, including PowerPoint, Excel and Power BI
- Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to a fast-changing corporate environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience writing or editing communications for websites, social media, articles, or press releases is a plus
We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:
- 2- 4 years’ experience in analytics with a minimum of 2 years’ working on ESG, Sustainability or related matters preferred; carbon reporting, food waste reduction, plastics and packaging, DE&I, and community impact reporting, retail or food and beverage supply chain experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in relevant fields, such as: environmental management, data sciences, business administration, etc.
- Excellent organization and forward-planning skills
- Ability to partner and communicate effectively with all levels and business functions, both internally and externally
- Ability to work independently and anticipate probable events, tasks and potential issues
- Strong customer support and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Resilient with a high level of personal integrity and energy
