POSITION: Sushi Chef Assistant

BASIC FUNCTION: To keep and attract more guest by:

Working under the supervision of the Sushi Chef and the Executive Chef – to prepare and cook food products for the restaurant according to the standards and procedures (including recipes, presentation, and timing requirements) in a safe and efficient manner. To maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment and to assist all employees in responding to specific guest needs while supporting the goals of the business and respecting the restaurant and its property.

EXPECTED RESULTS: If the job is performed well:

Appropriate amounts of high-quality food would be prepared in a timely manner according to standards and guest needs, while minimizing production waste. A safe, clean and organized work environment would be maintained and others in the organization would enjoy working with him or her. Food cost are properly controlled, restaurant property and equipment is cared for and the interests of the owners are protected.

PRIORITIZED KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and cook food according to recipe, except as adjusted to satisfy customer’s preference, always minimizing waste.
  • Present food in an accurate, clean and orderly manner according to order slips, plate presentation and/or as instructed.
  • Prepare and plate food within specified preparation time frames.
  • Work in a safe and clean manner.
  • Rigorously maintain a clean, safe and organized work station and assist others to do the same.
  • Set up work area and prepare for the meal period or function and/or break down the kitchen and work area in a timely and thorough manner, reclaiming all appropriate product.
  • Maintain food storage and food storage areas, minimizing spoilage and ensuring adequate supply of fresh product, rotating stock, and rigorously seeking to identify product which has become or is likely to become inferior.
  • Seek to assist co-workers willingly and assist the restaurant in achieving its goals and objectives.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
