Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervises staff responsible for performing the OR inventory replenishment process. Responsible for the replenishment, distribution and receiving functions for Surgical Services utilizing the Supply Chain Services automated inventory programs.
  • Reviews inventory usage reports. Adjusts reorder points and reorder quantities to ensure timely, accurate and efficient flow of supplies to support Surgical Service. Analyzes business conditions to determine present and future needs for supplies.
  • Represents the OR Materials function with interacting with OR managers and vendors in a professional manner. Works as a team member and make sound decisions. Works well under pressure and meets multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
  • Supervise and coordinates approved product conversions and changes to supply inventory. Serve as liaison with Materials manager, Clinical Resource manager and vendor in coordinating product change and in-service.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the cycle count in accordance with the established schedule. Reports any daily count discrepancies in excess of $10,000 to Supply Chain Management and Director of Surgical Services and make proper inventory adjustments.
  • Monitors daily inventory values by reviewing Supply Chain Systems reports. Tracks month-end inventory discrepancies, establish and maintains variances acceptable to Management.
  • Adjusts supply item reorder points based on case volume and usage. Process supply requistions and coordinates purchasing buyer to minimize supply shortage and stock outs.
  • Reports supply standardization and cost savings opportunities to Management on a quarterly basis. Supports the Value Enhancement committees by providing OR usage data.
  • Answers related questions and resolves clinical staff supply issues with support from Supply Chain management. Reviews department requisitions and create reports for Surgical Services upon request. Notifies Management of any critical or extended shortage of supplies.
  • Provides work direction, including the assignment and scheduling of duties. Resolves job-related issues and is responsible for the training and development of new an inexperienced employees. Monitors staff work activity to ensure conformance with current Supply Chain Services procedures.
  • Provides inventory management oversight. Work with staff to develop and implement new procedural process improvements for inventory management.
  • Reviews and updates policy and procedures to ensure the most current effective and efficient management of the inventory process.
  • Manages staff annual evaluations and competency reviews and take appropriate personnel actions as required by Human Resources. Interpret and implement Medical Center personnel and department policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and supervise formal year-end physical inventory. Frequently conduct inspections of Surgical Services storage areas to ensure clean and safe maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in CATH LAB and/or the OR
  • Associate's Degree in related field (3+ years of related work experience or 5 years Scrub Tech experience can be used as substitute for degree).
  • Five years experience in a healthcare supervisory position and warehouse materials handling, preferred. Five years experience using an automated inventory system, preferred. Must have medical/surgical product knowledge.
