Overview:
Vitro, North America's largest manufacturer of architectural and automotive glass is currently seeking a Supervisor Technical Services for our Float Process/Tank at its Wichita Falls, Texas location.

This position is to provide the necessary technical support to the Tank Department in order to conceive, plan and manage technical programs to ensure continuous improvement of cost, speed, yield, reliability and product quality in manufacturing processes. Coordinate and serve as a liaison to Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing and other Research organizations for product and process technology transfers. Explore and evaluate external technology for applicability to Vitro’s melting and forming processes. Provide troubleshooting assistance to manufacturing plants and mentor manufacturing personnel on glassmaking operations. Work alongside the Manager, Float Process to provide supervision to engineers, scientists, and technicians on technical programs.

Responsibilities:
The Wichita Falls, Texas plant operates two float glass furnaces 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Wichita Falls produces float glass for use by other Vitro plants and by outside customers in various glazing, mirror and automotive applications.

The incumbent has the prime responsibility for providing the daily technical support to maximize quality, speeds and yields. This position must ensure the continued innovation and development of operational machinery to maximize production operations.

This position is in day-to-day contact with the Wareroom Department pursuing their joint interest in quality and with the Plant Engineer who is responsible for maintenance and satisfactory operation of tank equipment. This position has customer contact through customer factory tours and visits to customer's plants on problems of quality.
The plant operate

The incumbent supervises the activities of the Tank Engineers. The incumbent efforts have the goal of maximizing daily and long-range maintenance and development of tank technical services. This requires daily inspection of tank processes and equipment to assure continued operational efficiency and to keep the Manager, Float Process advised of technical phases of the tank operation. The incumbent will also work with Vitro Corporate teams and outside vendors to stay up to date on current technology to aid in problem solving and optimal performance for both float lines.

Incumbent supervises three Tank Engineers, the Senior Tank Controls Engineer, as well as the Hot Repair Leadman and their team. The incumbent will act as the Manager, Float Process in their absence. Additionally, the incumbent will work closely with the Tank training team to provide necessary technical instruction and training updates to keep all Tank employee’s certifications current.

Qualifications:
This position should have a B.S. degree in Engineering and five years of tank/float glass process operational, scheduling, and supervising experience of the equivalent. The incumbent must have exhibited high levels of leadership and administrative ability and possess the characteristics recognized as desirable in supervising employees and effectively controlling their activities.
