Supervisor Custodial Services - Custodian Supervisor - Lead Janitor

United Staffing Solutions a leader in the staffing industry is working with a prestigious academic facility on the Upper West Side that is seeking a Supervisor of Custodial Services to report to the Custodial Manager. This is a direct hire/permanent position with benefits.

Schedule: Monday - Friday - 4pm - 12:30am

Salary - $65,000 -$70,000 annually depending on experience. Benefits include Health, Dental, 401K, Tuition refund.

Responsibilities for the Supervisor of Custodial Services:

• Directing the work, assigning tasks and inspecting progress and completion of work assignments (heavy cleaners/laborers/groundskeeper).
• Routine hiring, training and disciplinary action up to and including the termination of the bargaining unit employees.
• Developing and implementing training programs for custodial services staff to determine the best programs to meet needs
• Scheduling training programs to improve core competencies of custodial staff and determining the means and methods to be used in accomplishing work assignments
• Field supervision of outside vendors & maintenance contracts such as: landscaping, window cleaning, uniforms, floor mats, etc.
• Estimating the time, cost, manpower, materials, supplies and assignments
• Performing duties as related to Fire Life Safety Director certification for Class B /Commercial buildings
• Responding to building fire alarms and interfacing with FDNY, participating in building fire and evacuation drills, and managing of all related logs and reports

Requirements of the Supervisor of Custodial Services:

• Previous experience with custodial work in an academic setting including the upkeep of public spaces, offices, labs, classrooms and common areas, academic buildings, and surrounding grounds.
• 2+ years’ experience in a lead position or as a supervisor
• Must have working knowledge of maintenance standards (i.e. APPA, JACHO and Article 28 Clinic Cleaning) and work procedures while performing those duties and providing feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus two years of related experience
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid F-85 Certificate of Fitness as a Fire Safety Director within nine months of employment
• Vaccination for COVID-19 is required as a condition for work per company policy
