Assistant Camp Director and Camp Director
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Graduated from college
Previous work with children (2 years at CQ Summer Camps or other camp setting)
EVERY UNIT HEAD WILL:
-
Be a mature person who is able to work well with a group of children. This includes group control as well as group stimulation and encouragement. The job requires a great deal of patience and understanding.

Be a caring, mature role model for all campers. Campers’ needs must be placed above the counselor’s personal needs while at camp.
Instill in the children a respect for themselves, other, and the camp.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, supervise, and guide a group of campers and staff. Be aware of campers’ whereabouts at all times and keep track of campers’ belongings. Notify Assistant Camp Director of campers’ special problems – behavioral, physical, parent’s notes to be given to Assistant Camp Director.

Be prepared to work with children of all abilities.

Plan a well-balanced program based around each week’s theme for group when not assigned to Specialist or other activities that relate to camp. Report any issues with your schedule to your Assistant Camp Director.

Attend all camp activities including orientations, meeting, trips and staff outings.

Maintain good attendance and punctuality . Arrive each morning no later than 8:30 a.m. and stay until you are dismissed by the Assistant Camp Director. Follow CQ rules as follows: A) No smoking while camp is in session. B) No drugs or alcoholic beverages are permitted in the camp.

Assist in teaching or leading an activity as assigned. Assist Specialists with activities, including maintaining control. Assist swimming pool staff and provide general supervision of campers in pool area. The counselors must go into the water for swim time.

Maintain confidentiality regarding personal issues surrounding all staff and campers.

Prevent campers from abusing or damaging camp property, equipment, supplies and grounds.

Maintain a professional attitude.

Unit Heads are extensions of the Directors of camp. You will manage your team of counselors and report any issues. NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED for all counselors.
