General Description
A highly responsible position responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator/Behavior Interventionist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Youth and Family Services/Bully Buster Summer Jam and Learn Program.
(28 hours per week for 6 weeks) Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Program Coordinator to implement a daily schedule of appropriate skills and character building activities in compliance with program goals.

Assist the Program Coordinator to plan and organize weekly field trips.

Assist the Program Coordinator to coordinate activities with Bully Buster partners and community collaborators.

Assist the Program Coordinator to arrange for community mentors.

Assist the Program Coordinator with managing teen volunteers.

Acts as Program Coordinator when Program Coordinator is absent.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Summer Jam Program Assistant will work under the Supervision of the Summer Jam Program Coordinator/Behavior Interventionist and the Program Coordinator for Youth & Family Services.

Qualifications
Candidate must have an Associate"s Degree with at least 2 years" experience working with difficult early teenaged students. Preference is given to candidates with experience as a behavior interventionist in the middle or high school setting. Must have a valid Connecticut driver"s license. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - This position requires flexibility and strong problem-solving skills. This position requires experience working with at-risk youth. Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will deal with youth who may have mental illness, may have substance use issues, and can be hostile. Important Information
The "Summer Jam and Learn" diversion Program will run for six weeks from mid-June - mid-August, Monday-Thursday from 10-4 pm.
