Position: Manhattan College Summer Day Camp Tutor/Counselor
Format: Hourly position and on-campus housing provided
Term: June 13 to August 11, 2023. Available for training the week of June 13-16.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 am/8:30 am to 5 pm/6 pm. (40 hours/week schedule)

Manhattan College, Non-Credit Programs manhattan.edu/summercamp is looking for energetic and fun leaders interested in working with children ages 5 to 12 as camp tutors/counselors.
The tutors should be passionate and creative people who believe in inspiring children to love and learn math, arts, engineering, technology, and science. Our program focuses on STEAM themes ranging from computer programming to biology, aerodynamics, and theater/film.
Tutors will be in charge of 8 to 12 children at one time and should comply with our COVID-19 policies, including social distancing, hand washing, and outdoor and indoor policies. You will be provided with PPEs, training, and coaching.
Specific duties:
- Design and implement activities for campers
- Meeting and reporting with camp leadership staff
- Model constructive participation in all activities
- Manage camper's drop-off and pick-up logistics
- Support social media outlets by taking pictures and recording fun lessons to share
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Teaching/ tutoring experience with children 5 to 12 years olds
- Experience working in a team and following instructions
- Computer skills, Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Strong work ethic, dependable and flexible
- Great organizational skills
- Enjoy STEAM concepts
- A passion and skill for building hands-on projects with children
- Current Child CPR/First Aid Certifications are a plus
- Always have a positive, can-do attitude
- Demonstrate excellent judgment; identify problems and work quickly to find solutions
- Push/pull, lift, and carry a minimum of 15 pounds across campus and walk up and down stairs
- Strict adherence to camp philosophy, standards, and goals
- Advanced level of oral, reading, and writing the English Language
- Available to participate in training meetings with our camp leadership staff
- COVID19 fully vaccinated
Hourly rate is $15/hour, and on-campus housing provided
