What you will be doing:

Part time, remote, Seismic Engineering expert for participation on the Peer Review Panel (PRP) for the PF-4 Seismic Performance Reassessment Project (P-SPRaP), a nonlinear dynamic analysis of PF-4 that assesses the structural performance of the building to a range of ground motions generated by earthquakes. In this role you will serve as a seismic engineering expert, evaluating the work performed to determine seismic loading, building capacity, and the convolution of the demands and capacities to determine the probabilistic performance of the PF-4 structure. The PRP will review and comment on various documents in support of their role to opine on the overall quality of project results at various stages of project completion and report to LANL program management.

Performance Shall Include:

o Manages and directs the daily tasks required to perform ongoing support of design, construction, startup and/or operations/ maintenance activities of complex high technology systems or projects.

o Renders expert opinions on engineering and technical issues, provides recommendations to project design and construction teams in specific areas of expertise.

o Provides independent reviews and assessments in areas of specialized expertise and provides guidance project teams in delivering results on projects of complex high- technology nature.

o Interfaces with management personnel and customer representatives.

o Develops and enforces work standards, assigns schedules, reviews work quality, communicates goals, objectives, and policies of the organization to subordinates.

o Provides leadership for the project team, coordinates with the functional organizations, and supervises senior personnel within the project organization.

Educational Requirements:

o Position typically requires at minimum BS/BA degree in Engineering, Science or Business Management, and seven (7 years) of directly applicable experience in specialized technical field and is acknowledged as an expert in the specific area in question.

Other Requirements:

· Experience in the field of seismic engineering, particularly for nuclear facilities.

· Strong understanding of DOE-STD-1020, ASCE 4, and ASCE 43.

· PhD or MS in geotechnical, structural, seismic engineering, or related field.

· Ability to communicate effectively and work with others.

· Must have a thorough understanding of probabilistic methods for assessing structures.

· Must have experience in working on a Peer Review Panel (PRP), preferable for other NNSA or nuclear power plant facilities.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Q Clearance or the ability to qualify for one.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,574.00 - $136,441.00 per year
