Position Summary

Provide job coaching, interview preparation, portfolio and career advising for Ogden-Weber Technical College students and alumni in support the College’s completion, placement, and licensure goals. This position may include coverage for early morning and evening functions.

The incumbent works under the direction of the Director for Student Services.

Essential Functions

1. Prepare course materials, dynamically engage a class and inspire students to reach their potential.

2. Conduct job preparation training by assisting students with resume development/updates, cover letter preparation, career advising, applications, and practice interviews.

3. Develop, deliver, and maintain Job Seeking Skills curriculum and courses in Canvas learning management system, including student assignments, progress, and attendance verifications.

4. Conduct training for programs to help students better prepare for specific job industries.

5. Cultivate relationships with employers to increase student outcomes and placements.

6. Build relationships with program instructors by keeping job-seeking materials updated and employment opportunities shared.

7. Provide Lunch and Learn workshops for students.

8. Participate in the development of Student Success Center marketing, outreach, and distribution of promotional materials.

9. Assist with student emergency food pantry maintenance and distribution.

10. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Possess a Bachelor degree or higher in education, communication, human resources, psychology, counseling or related areas, or, four years equivalent combination of education and/or related work experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

1. Preference will be given to those individuals with teaching experience.

2. Knowledge of and ability to understand state and federal laws, rules and regulations related to student admissions, registration and records.

3. Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and excellent customer service skills.

4. Have a general understanding of higher education policies and processes as well as experience working with faculty and staff.

5. Excellent multi-tasking, time management and prioritization skills along with exceptional attention to detail.

6. Complete duties in an efficient and timely manner. Self-driven.

7. Excellent work ethic and ability to work independently and in a team environment while ensuring compliance with key college and academic policies.

8. Must be friendly, dependable, flexible, and receptive to change with an ability to work with individuals from all cultural, religious, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.

9. Must be proficient with computers, Microsoft Office, and Windows operating systems.

10. Spanish-speaking proficiency desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

2. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

3. Requires ability to drive an automobile.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Monday through Thursday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Some Flexibility)
