SUMMARY
The Student Services Representative at the HCC Western Center in Baileyville, Kansas, will assist students who attend HCC regional centers to be successful in the college environment. This goal will be accomplished by providing accurate and timely academic advising, administering placement testing for general education and technical students, helping students improve study skills, assisting students in improving test-taking skills, guiding students through the financial aid process, and providing support for students in need of academic accommodations. This position will oversee the Highland Western Center's Student Services area, also supervising and evaluating tutors housed at the Western Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Assist students in developing academic skills.

2. Provide academic advisement and enrollment for general education and technical students.

3. Provide Financial Aid counseling and education.

4. Coordinate with directors of academic programs to align resources and services to curricula/programs.

5. Manage all aspects of the HWC's Student Services area; work with Western Center Director and HCC faculty to integrate services at the HWC.

6. Manage the Disabilities Services for all HCC Technical students. Duties include:
a. Communicate with technical students who identify as having a disability and/or request accommodations;
b. Review documentation provided that relates to a student's disability;
c. Work collaboratively with the student to determine appropriate accommodations;
d. If necessary, assist student in getting access to accommodation equipment;
e. Inform instructors of the accommodations allowed for each student;
f. Provide mediation between instructors and students when problems arise.

7. Assist in selection, training, supervision and evaluation of site tutors.

8. Participate in student recruitment activities and events as well as communication with area high schools.

9. Assist with social media marketing.

10. Participate in enrollment management initiatives such as enrollment days and other student services events as assigned.

11. Assist students in accessing/using HCC's online student services.

12. Administer site testing as needed, to include but not limited to, WorkKeys, Accuplacer, CNA, CMA, and test proctoring.

13. Organize and oversee student services activities/events.

14. Organize, track and submit technical data to the Technical Center for State reporting.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree required; master's degree related to student services/student personnel preferred or higher education preferred. Two years experience developing/implementing higher education student services program preferred. Two years higher education advising experience preferred. Personnel management experience. Experience working with high risk, non-traditional students. Instructional experience preferred. Must have good to excellent computer skills including a thorough knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software. Basic understanding of admissions, enrollment, and financial aid processes desired.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations - Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record with no major infractions in the past five years.

Other
Skills - Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and excellent recordkeeping skills. Should have a service orientation and positive attitude toward students, employees, and community people who interact with the College including prompt response to student needs. Must be able to multitask while providing customer assistance and remain calm under pressure.
