PAY: $14 - $17.50/hour based on experience, education, and certifications, paid over school breaks
BASIC FUNCTION: The Individual Student Aide works one-on-one with a student with severe emotional/behavioral disabilities and/or autism to implement the assigned duties on the student’s Individual Education Program, and works with the lead teacher and other classroom/support staff to provide a comprehensive education and behavioral program for the assigned student.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 8:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, following the school calendar; Non-exempt.
WORK LOCATION: Hammitt has three locations in Normal, IL.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implement Instructional Program: Assists in implementing activities related to the behavioral/education program, under the direction of the certified staff, and assists certified staff with behavioral and crisis intervention with the assigned student
- Progress Reporting: Assists in collecting behavioral data on the assigned student to be used in establishing and evaluating the student’s individual educational program.
- Organize, Inventory, and Prepare Instructional Equipment: Responsible, under the direction of the certified staff, for preparing and organizing materials needed for the daily lesson plan implementation, which includes reading the lesson plans ahead of time, determining which materials were to be used, setting up, and organizing materials at the beginning and end of the day, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's Degree, 60 hours of course work, or High School diploma or equivalent
- Paraprofessional license preferred.
- Previous experience working with students with learning, behavioral, emotional, or developmental disabilities (as applicable for position) in an educational or residential setting preferred.
