POSITION: STREET OUTREACH WORKER POSITION FUNCTION/OVERVIEW: This position provides direct services to runaway homeless youth in Monroe County, including outreach and prevention of sexual exploitation, as well as forming and maintaining collaborative relationships with other agencies and the business community that are necessary to ensure maximum service delivery for the program and its clients. Services to runaway homeless youth include street-based outreach and education, survival aid, individual assessment, supportive counseling, prevention and education activities, information and referral services, crisis intervention and follow-up support. Youth may be referred to the agency’s Residential Program, as needed. The working schedule of the Street Outreach Worker will maximize the opportunities for establishing and building relationships with homeless runaway youth as well as to provide time to contact businesses and agencies. This non-exempt position reports to the Street Outreach Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Locates runaway and homeless youth.

2. Establishes and builds relationships with homeless runaway youth.

3. Provides direct services to homeless runaway youth.

4. Makes contacts, and establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with other organizations to promote maximum service delivery within the program, as directed by supervisor.

5. Provides on call services as needed.

6. Completes documentation and reports as necessary.

7. Complies with quality assurance standards for the program.

8. Occasionally works with volunteers.

9. Attends staff meetings as necessary and participates as a team member.

10. Attends training as required or requested.

11. Performs other duties as appropriate and assigned.

12. Must be willing or able to work with diverse client populations. This requires understanding or acceptance of other people’s culture and life styles. Includes a willingness to learn about and value others experiences.

FKCS is eligible employment for PSLF - Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

Must have a Driver License and pass a level II background check.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field. Experience working with at-risk youth is preferred. Job related training of 2+ years and current certification as an addiction professional (CAP) or 4+ years of applicable experience with at-risk youth or adults may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. Computer literacy would be an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
